My daughter participated in track her senior year of high school just for fun. For all four years of high school she was involved with another sport which prevented her from being able to run track prior to her senior year. However, she ran in middle school and really enjoyed it. Little did she know the decision to run her senior year would completely change the course of her life. She quickly bonded with her teammates, and grew as an athlete and as a person under the leadership of Coach Borden. She pushed herself outside of her comfort zone, and ended up in the finals at the Alabama State Championship for 4 separate events, even winning the 4×800 relay alongside 3 of her teammates. This newfound passion for running opened a door for her to run in college, and she received an athletic scholarship to become a collegiate athlete in the fall. Coach Borden along with all of the coaches and staff helped her tremendously through that process with support and encouragement. It’s a fantastic program and I’m forever grateful my daughter decided to join on a whim.
